Whirlwind is finally back! It’s better than ever, pushing nicely to T130+ and easily running T105 in less than 2 minutes without any mandatory unique items.
Now is a good time to introduce Spin To Win Whirlwind Bleed Barbarian Build because it has been massively buffed since then. I mean, the damage of Dust Devil’s Aspect has been doubled, all the juicy Uber Uniques have also been massively buffed, and our damage has more than doubled. This is by far my favorite build in this game.
If you’re interested in pushing this build, don’t miss this guide, we can easily double its damage with some nice Diablo 4 items. Let’s get straight into it!
Build Basics
The first thing we need to understand is what we need to play this build. What we need is Grandfather and a chance to make enemies vulnerable to your gear. Of course, you also want to collect as many Uber Unique items as possible, but it is not mandatory. Although it will greatly increase your damage, this may be prohibitive for some players with a low Diablo 4 Gold budget.
Secondly, we have to know that this is a bleed build, which means that we can use Gushing Wounds and make bleed damage into the hundreds of millions by stacking as much critical chance and critical damage as possible on our gear, as well as Vulnerable bonus from Legendary node Hemorrhage.
So, what makes this build? Without a doubt, our rocking Leap. This is because it grants us Berserking damage reduction and a huge damage boost. Without this skill, it would be difficult for us to continue to cast Berserking on bosses because Whirlwind’s Lucky Hit chance is so bad.
In this build, we also use Yen’s Blessing, which can easily double the duration of our Shout effect. This Diablo 4 item is very overlooked, but it is absolutely huge for Whirlwind builds.
On top of that, Greater Affixes does a 30% damage reduction, allowing you to survive even if you feel dizzy after spinning.
Gear
Next, let’s look at what gear to use to make you an expert in this build. If you buy Diablo 4 items in advance, I recommend focusing on the following four Ubers:
- Tyrael’s Might: Doubles Divine barrage damage.
- Ring of Starless Skies: Gained a 10% damage buff.
- Grandfather: This doubles your Gushing Wounds critical damage.
- Harlequin Crest: Gain 20% damage reduction and additional Maximum Life.
Aspects
As for Aspects, these are the ones you need to focus on when completing this build.
- Aspect of Fierce Winds: Your Shout Skills will create 5 Dust Devils that deal 0 damage to enemies along the way. Your Dust Devils grow 5% – 20% larger, and deal 1% more damage for every 1% increase in size.
- Aspect of Bul-Kathos: This causes an Earthquake, dealing 0 Physical damage over 4 seconds. While standing in an Earthquake, your damage reduction is increased by 10% – 25%.
- Earthquake Aspect: Ground Stomp triggers an Earthquake, dealing 0 physical damage to enemies for 4 seconds. While standing on an Earthquake, you deal 10% – 25% more damage.
- Aspect of Berserk Ripping: Whenever you cast Berserking, it deals direct damage, and converts 15% – 30% of your base damage dealt to additional bleed damage over 5 seconds.
- Dust Devil’s Aspect: Whirlwind leaves behind Dust Devils that deal 0 damage to enemies in their path. I recommend this for Speed Farming, as its damage is doubled here.
Weapon Arsenal
With the gear and aspects out of the way, let’s take a look at the Weapon Arsenal for this build. This is usually hard to keep track of for the poor Barbarian, but we can just set everything to Slashing Weapons and we’ll be ready. This way you also get Two-Handed Axe Expertise, and 10% bonus damage.
Skill Tree
Next, let’s take a look at Skill Tree. We’ll start with Two Points in Bash, but we obviously won’t use it, as that would get really boring.
Besides this, we’ll also pick Enhanced Whirlwind to get some extra Fury. Someone might ask me why I didn’t pick Furious Whirlwind. The answer is simple, because its Whirlwind actually does zero damage, and we only use it to spawn Dust Devils.
But since Lucky Hit chance on Whirlwind is so bad, we moved to the defensive skills and picked Imposing Presence. Of course, you can also pick Martial Vigor here.
If you’re lacking any defense, just take some points from War Cry. We also need Tactical Rallying Cry, extra Fury for our Dust Devil’s Aspect, and Iron Skin to make sure we stay at full health.
Then we grab Leap, both Enhanced and Power Leap here. Very powerful since it spawns four Tornadoes every time we use Leap.
Finally, the key passive Gushing Wounds makes this build possible.
Paragon Board
Last but not least, let’s take a look at what changes we made to Paragon Board, because something has changed there, namely that rare nodes are actually available. Now the developers changed the requirements to allow us to get a ton of extra damage and damage reduction.
We still start with Wrath because it’s insane. We go to Warbringer Board and use this legendary node to strengthen us.
If you don’t need damage reduction or Berserking damage, you might be wondering what you should pick. Then I would recommend going in with Fire Resistance here as well as Poison Resistance and making room for other affixes on your gear. Of course, bleeding is also a must.
Lastly, since we are not using any rare nodes here, we go to Blood Rage Board, make sure to max it out and use it to cast attacks immediately. So we choose to go to Decimator Board to grab some Vulnerable nodes and socket Twister for extra damage.
Play Style
It’s time to get good and start blasting! The play style of this build depends on whether you have Tyrael’s Might. If you have Tyrael’s Might, then you need to keep your health above 100%, which means that every time your health drops, you will immediately pop Iron Skin to heal yourself.
However, if you don’t have Tyrael’s Might, I also recommend repeatedly pressing Whirlwind button, as it allows you to shoot more spikes.
Other than these things, this build is very simple and you don’t have to worry about it. Anyway, the most important thing is that this build is for you to have fun! I’ll see you in the next one!
